Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set this mixture aside.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating it with the milk, until just combined.
- Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth for the cheesecake center.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pans. Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the batter, then divide the remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost the cakes with chocolate frosting and sprinkle with shredded coconut and chopped pecans before serving.
