Description

A creamy and dreamy homemade rice pudding that is easy to prepare and offers nostalgic flavors for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup short-grain rice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Cinnamon (for topping)
  • Raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, rice, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it begins to boil. Then reduce the heat to low.
  4. Continue cooking on low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and mixture thickens.
  5. If desired, stir in raisins.
  6. Remove from heat and cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a different twist, try adding nutmeg or cardamom during cooking. You can substitute whole milk with almond or coconut milk for variations.
