- 4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup short-grain rice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Cinnamon (for topping)
- Raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients.
- In a large saucepan, combine the whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, rice, and salt. Stir well.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it begins to boil. Then reduce the heat to low.
- Continue cooking on low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and mixture thickens.
- If desired, stir in raisins.
- Remove from heat and cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a different twist, try adding nutmeg or cardamom during cooking. You can substitute whole milk with almond or coconut milk for variations.
