- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup mustard seeds
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- Salt to taste
- Cucumbers (or other vegetables) for pickling
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, sugar, turmeric, and salt. Bring this mixture to a boil.
- Add the mustard seeds and sliced onion to the boiling mixture and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Pack the cucumbers and/or other vegetables into sterilized jars.
- Pour the hot mustard mixture over the packed vegetables, ensuring they are fully submerged.
- Seal the jars and let them cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Allow them to sit for at least 24 hours before enjoying.
Notes
Make sure jars are sterilized to prevent spoilage. Experiment with different vegetables and adjust sugar levels according to taste.
