Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • Crumble from Christmas tree cake
  • White chocolate (for drizzling)
  • Festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Sift powdered sugar and almond flour together twice for a smooth batter.
  2. Beat egg whites until foamy, then gradually add granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Fold in green food coloring to achieve desired shade.
  4. Carefully fold sifted almond flour mixture into egg whites until mixture flows like lava.
  5. Pipe tree shapes onto lined baking sheets and rest for 30-60 minutes.
  6. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 14-16 minutes, rotating halfway.
  7. Beat butter until fluffy, then mix in powdered sugar, cream, and salt, folding in crumbled cake.
  8. Pipe filling onto one macaron shell and top with another shell to sandwich.
  9. Drizzle with white chocolate, add sprinkles, and top with a gold star.
  10. Refrigerate in an airtight container for 24 hours for best flavor.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature egg whites and rest the macarons adequately before baking.
