- 4 large onions, chopped

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F).
- Place the beef shanks in a large casserole and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the chopped onions and crushed garlic on top of the meat.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil or a lid.
- Cook in the oven for about 240-300 minutes until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
