Description
A delightful twist on traditional tiramisu using fresh strawberries and mascarpone cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Strawberry Layer
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- For the Mascarpone Cream
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the Assembly
- 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- 1 cup milk (for dipping)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for milk)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Toss to coat and let sit for about 15 minutes to macerate.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
- In a shallow dish, combine the milk and vanilla extract for dipping the ladyfingers.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the milk mixture (do not soak) and layer them in the bottom of a 9×9 inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, followed by half of the macerated strawberries. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and strawberries.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Serve chilled, garnished with extra strawberries or powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For best flavor, use ripe strawberries.
- Let the tiramisu chill overnight for improved taste.
