Description

A delightful twist on traditional tiramisu using fresh strawberries and mascarpone cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Strawberry Layer
    • 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
    • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • For the Mascarpone Cream
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Assembly
    • 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers (savoiardi)
    • 1 cup milk (for dipping)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for milk)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Toss to coat and let sit for about 15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  4. In a shallow dish, combine the milk and vanilla extract for dipping the ladyfingers.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the milk mixture (do not soak) and layer them in the bottom of a 9×9 inch dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, followed by half of the macerated strawberries. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and strawberries.
  7. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  8. Serve chilled, garnished with extra strawberries or powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use ripe strawberries.
  • Let the tiramisu chill overnight for improved taste.
