Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Pie Crust
  • 2 Large Onions, Sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Cup Gruyère Cheese, Grated
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • Fresh Thyme (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized (15-20 minutes).
  3. Roll out the pie crust and press it into a tart pan.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the crust, sprinkle with Gruyère cheese, and pour the egg mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the filling is set and the top is golden.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a flavor boost, consider adding garlic while sautéing the onions. Garnish with fresh thyme for an elegant touch.
