This Oven-Roasted French Garlic Chicken is a delicious, family-friendly dish infused with garlic and herbs, perfect for creating memorable moments.

- 2.5 to 3 lbs bone-in, skin-on chicken (Substitute boneless chicken for a quicker meal.)
- 1/4 cup avocado or olive oil (Vegetable oil can be used as a substitute.)
- Sea salt (Adjust to taste.)
- Ground black pepper (Adjust to taste.)
- 3 medium shallots, thinly sliced (Sweet onions can be used if shallots are unavailable.)
- 20 to 25 cloves garlic (Reduce for a milder taste.)
- 1 small bunch fresh thyme (Substitute with 1 tsp dried thyme if fresh is not available.)
- 3 to 4 sprigs fresh rosemary (Can be omitted if you’re out.)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (Vegetable broth can be used for a non-meat choice.)
- 1/2 cup white wine (Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio) (Mix lemon juice with broth for non-alcoholic option.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
- Line a large casserole dish with Reynolds Wrap® Heavy Duty Foil.
- Spread the thinly sliced shallots evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Layer half of the whole garlic cloves, sprinkling fresh thyme and rosemary on top.
- Place the chicken on top, drizzle with oil, and season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle remaining garlic cloves and thyme over the chicken. Pour chicken broth and white wine around the edges.
- Roast uncovered for 1 hour, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Broil for an additional 5-7 minutes for extra crispiness.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
