Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern

This Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern is a sweet mini amigurumi design with a soft woolly head, tiny ears, little arms, rounded overalls, and two cute outfit options. You can make the red version with a tiny yellow stitch detail, or the blue version with a bow tie and mini glasses for an extra charming look.

I love this pattern because it feels small, playful, and full of personality. It is a lovely project for zodiac animal collections, handmade keychains, bag charms, desk decorations, or small gifts. If you are building a full animal series, this sheep pairs beautifully with the Zodiac Cow Crochet Pattern and the Mini Cow Amigurumi Pattern.

This pattern is written in US crochet terms and works best with cotton or sport-weight yarn. For yarn weight reference, you can compare your yarn with the Craft Yarn Council’s standard yarn weight system.

Why You’ll Love This Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern

This Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern is small but full of detail. The wool curls are made directly into the free front loops of the head, so the top looks fluffy without needing complicated texture stitches.

You can also customize the sheep easily. Make a red sheep for a bright lucky-style zodiac charm, or make the blue sheep with glasses for a cute studious character. If you enjoy small animal amigurumi, you may also like the soft style of the Brown Calf Crochet Pattern or the magical mini look of the Mini Milk Dragon Crochet Pattern.

Skill Level

Intermediate beginner

This pattern uses basic amigurumi stitches, color changes, BLO rounds, free front loop details, simple shaping, sewing, and small embroidery.

If you are still new to the basic stitches, you can first review how to make a neat single crochet stitch before starting the sheep.

Finished Size

The finished size depends on your yarn, hook size, and tension.

With 4-ply cotton yarn and a 2.0 mm crochet hook, the sheep will be a small amigurumi size, perfect for a keychain or bag charm.

Use 4-ply cotton yarn, sport-weight yarn, or similar.

For the Red Sheep Version

For the Blue Sheep Version

Hook Size

Use a 2.0 mm crochet hook for a small keychain-size sheep.

You can also use a 2.25 mm or 2.5 mm hook if your yarn is slightly thicker. Just remember that changing your hook and yarn will change the final size of your sheep.

For a smoother finish, especially when shaping the head and body, you can use an invisible decrease. I explain that technique in my guide to the invisible decrease crochet method.

Red version of the Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern with fluffy wool curls, tiny ears, and bright overalls.

Use skin / beige / peach yarn.

Rounds 2–7 are worked in BLO. The free front loops will be used later for the white wool curls.

Stuff the head firmly.

FO and leave a long tail for sewing.

Fluffy Wool on Head

Use white yarn.

FO and hide the yarn end.

This wool detail gives the Little Zodiac Sheep Crochet Pattern its cute fluffy character. Try not to pull the chains too tightly, because looser chains will make the curls look softer.

Ears ×2

Use skin / beige / peach yarn.

This last round is only a partial round to shape the ear.

FO and leave a long tail for sewing.

Flatten the ear and sew one ear on each side of the head.

Arms ×2

Start with skin / beige yarn for the hand tip.

Do not stuff, or stuff very lightly.

Flatten the arm opening.

FO.

You can crochet the arms into the body on Rnd 16, or sew them on later. If you prefer sewing them, you may want to check my guide on how to attach amigurumi limbs evenly.

Legs and Body

For the red sheep, use red for the overalls.

For the blue sheep, use navy blue for the overalls.

Use dark brown for the feet.

First Leg

Start with dark brown yarn.

Change to overall color: red or navy blue.

FO the first leg.

Second Leg

Repeat Rnds 1–4 for the second leg, but do not fasten off.

Change to white yarn.

FO and leave a long tail for sewing the body to the head.

Stuff the legs and body before closing.

Collar

FO and weave in the end.

This creates a small decorative collar under the head. If your stitch placement looks slightly off, adjust by moving the center stitches one stitch to the left or right.
