Description

Irresistible Christmas Ornament Cupcakes that turn simple treats into festive holiday ornaments, perfect for parties and family gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups Truvia® Sweet Complete™ All-Purpose Sweetener
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups Truvia® Confectioners sweetener
  • Edible food coloring
  • Edible pearls and metallic dust for decorating

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter with Truvia® Sweet Complete™ until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk into butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix in sour cream until smooth.
  6. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
  7. Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool cupcakes in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. For frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add Truvia® Confectioners sweetener, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  10. Divide frosting and tint with gel colors to resemble ornaments. Frost cooled cupcakes and add decorations as desired.

Notes

For a glossy look, brush piped frosting with a thin layer of diluted light apricot jam.
