- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional spices (garlic powder, paprika)
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients (5 minutes): Dice your onion and slice your potatoes into thin rounds.
- Brown the ground beef (10-15 minutes): In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add the chopped onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Prepare the soup mixture (5 minutes): In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, and optional spices. Stir until smooth.
- Layer your bake (15 minutes): In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and then half of the cheese. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Add the soup mixture (5 minutes): Pour the soup mixture evenly over the top of your layers.
- Bake (75 minutes): Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest and serve (5 minutes): Let it cool for a few minutes for easier serving.
Notes
For an extra kick, consider adding frozen peas, corn, or bell peppers for added color and nutrients.
