- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- Water, as needed
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt.
- In a stand mixer, beat together the shredded cheddar cheese and softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the cheese mixture, beating on low speed. Add water, one teaspoon at a time, as needed to form a dough.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for 10-15 minutes while the oven preheats.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Using a cookie press, pipe the dough into 2- to 3-inch strips on the baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 14-17 minutes or until light golden brown.
- Cool completely on baking sheets before serving.
