Instructions
- Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5–7 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.
- Cool Slightly: Remove from heat and let the brown butter cool for a few minutes.
- Combine Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and the brown butter. Mix until well combined.
- Add Egg and Vanilla: Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Skillet: Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or oven-safe skillet with cooking spray or butter.
- Spread Dough: Pour the cookie dough into the skillet and spread it evenly.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but still slightly soft.
- Cool Slightly: Allow the skillet cookie to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Slice and Serve: Serve warm, either sliced into wedges or scooped directly from the skillet. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
