Description

A quick and comforting dish featuring tender ground beef and savory mushrooms over a creamy polenta base.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup polenta
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onions and garlic; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in mushrooms and cook until tender.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. In a separate pot, boil water and whisk in polenta. Stir until thickened.
  6. Stir in Parmesan and butter until creamy.
  7. Serve ragu over creamy polenta.
