- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup polenta
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Drain excess fat.
- Add onions and garlic; cook until softened.
- Stir in mushrooms and cook until tender.
- Add crushed tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a separate pot, boil water and whisk in polenta. Stir until thickened.
- Stir in Parmesan and butter until creamy.
- Serve ragu over creamy polenta.
