- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients by finely dicing the onions.
- Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper to form 6 to 8 oval-shaped patties and let rest.
- Brown the patties in an oven-safe skillet with heated butter for 3-4 minutes per side until golden; then remove.
- In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter until soft, then add flour and stir for 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until thickened.
- Nestle the browned patties back into the gravy, cover, and bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using beef bone broth instead of regular broth.
